Bengali Wedding is a Traditional Hindu Wedding which is normally takes place in West Bengal, includes many rituals and ceremonies that can span several days as the wedding ceremony follows the Gaye Holud which means "turmeric is applied to the skin" ceremonies. The wedding ceremony is arranged by the bride's family. The Traditional Bengali marriage starts with the Kabin ceremony and ends with the Bou Bhat ceremony. The Bou Bhat ceremony is known as the wedding reception arranged by the groom's family. Besides this, you can also enjoy the sightseeing of the place. You will be guided about their traditional rituals what and how it is done.

Itinerary Details

Tourist Attractions: Victoria Memorial, Eden Gardens, Dakshineshwar Temple, Indian Museum, Marble Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral

On arrival at Kolkata, our representative will greet and welcome you with our Indian tradition after your arrival. On reaching Kolkata you will be escorted to your accommodation. Check into your accommodation and take a rest after your long flight journey. Fresh up and then take the day free for leisure.

Tourist Attractions: Pre-wedding day 

Have your breakfast, and visit the Bridegroom’s or Bride’s house. Some rituals are done by the Bengali people before the day of the main marriage such as

  • Ashirbaad - the elders of the groom's side go to bless the bride and vice versa. Give them gold ornaments.
  • Aai Budo Bhaat – their relatives and friends throw a Bachelor’s Party for the well-being of the boy and the girl.
  • Holud Kota- married women of his or her relatives grind turmeric with mortar and pestle and anoint the bride with turmeric paste which makes their skin glow.
  • Dodhi Mongol - seven married ladies adorn the bride's hands with bangles that are Shakha and Paula - one pair of red and one pair of white bangles.

Tourist Attractions: Main wedding day 

Have your breakfast and prepare for the Main Wedding Day where the main traditional Bengali Wedding will take place with their rituals which include:

  • Bor Jatri - the groom's house as well as his friends dress in their best attire and journey to the bride's house where the wedding takes place.
  • Bor Boron – the mother of the bride along with other members comes out to welcome the groom and his family by showing the holy earthen lamp and welcoming the other side. They are served with sweets and drinks.
  • Potto Bastra – The groom is seated at the chadnatolla. The bride and the priest take their place, and the groom is offered new clothes by the person who is to do the sampradaya.
  • Saat Paak – Seven circles are done where seven promises had to be made.
  • Mala Badal - the bride and the groom exchange garlands of fragrant flowers thrice.
  • Subho Dristi - After garlanding one another the bride and the groom are made to look at each other in front of all the assembled invitees where the bride used to cover her face with beetal leaf.
  • Yagna – Both Bride and Bridegroom sit in Front of the fire and chant mantras.
  • Saat Paak – Both of them have to take circles around the fire and take their promises.
  • Anjali – after that Anjali is given where offerings are done to Fire.
  • Sindoor Daan and Ghomta – Sindoor, a symbol of marriage worn by Hindu women by the Groom in her Hair- partings.

After this, the marriage is completed. Besides this wedding songs are sung. It continues for the whole night.

Today Bidaay is done by her family– This is a farewell ritual given to the bride and wishes for a happy life. It is a moment where both joy and sorrow can be seen. Then bride is welcomed by the Groom’s mother and his relatives with some rituals. Take rest for the whole day and free for leisure. Then enjoy the feast in the bridegroom’s house and wish them a happy married life. They will offer you respect with gifts. In the evening, free for leisure.
